Getting through the cold season
Cold weather, dry heating air and respiratory infections put a strain on the body. These simple habits help in everyday life.
- Air rooms briefly and thoroughly Open the windows wide two to three times a day for about five minutes. This exchanges the air without cooling down the walls.
- Wash your hands thoroughly Wash your hands with soap and water, especially when you come home, after blowing your nose and before eating.
- Catch coughs and sneezes Cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow. Put used tissues straight in the bin.
- Stay warm and sure-footed Dress in layers, and wear shoes with a good tread when it is icy.
- Exercise and daylight A walk in daylight is good for your circulation and your mood. Adjust the length and pace to the weather.
- Call ahead if you feel unwell If you have acute symptoms, call us before you come to the practice. Outside consultation hours, the medical on-call service helps on 116 117.
